WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS Producer Land EKG™ workshops - Three-day |
| EKG DataStore
Course - One day This indoor instruction is for managers who want to advance from the “paper and pencil” reporting process to an organized computer-generated application. Receive hands-on training regarding logging into a secure DataStore account and entering your own site background, baseline, and annual monitoring information. Utilize the plant lists, annual monitoring page, photo storage and printable reports. Share specific management strategies based on monitoring feedback in a small group setting. MobileEKG Training – Coming Soon! The course topics follow the Land EKG 3-day rangeland monitoring workshop, with the advantage of instant data results using a pocket computer programmed with Land EKG Field Software. Hands-on instruction covers site selection and set-up, scoring indicators, editing entered data and syncing the pocket computers to a PC to upload data. Also utilize additional programs such as plant lists, production estimates and grazing budgeting. Instant reports through DataStore engage group discussions on management issues, and verifies the importance of monitoring information towards management decisions and goals. Grazing Planning Clinics These 2.5 day training events are intended to improve land manager abilities to understand and apply; key grazing concepts, all aspects of stocking rate calculations, and develop a flexible, year round grazing plan. Schools are typically held in late fall, winter, or early spring. Understand existing soil and water resource information in relation to grazing and management decisions. Develop hands on skills and confidence in accurately determining forage production, rangeland condition and appropriate stocking rates. Come away with 4 key grazing concepts that “make or break” a range management program, and begin a budget plan customized to your unique site. Training is divided between class discussion, case study examples, field exercises, map work calculations, and Internet usage. Want to host a workshop in your area? We have found the most effective and successful workshops are delivered to a local area. Over the years we have successfully scheduled these workshops with Conservation Districts, Grazing Associations, Conservation groups, Cattleman Associations, and other interested land manager groups. If you see the value in monitoring or want to learn more about a training event we are happy to discuss workshop options which might best fit your needs.
